About me
I attended UH Manoa and graduated in 2009. I was in the Dual-Prep program in the College of Education. I am certified to teach both elementary education and special education. I student taught at Hickam Elementary, Aiea Elementary, and Kamiloiki Elementary. I originally thought I wanted to teach 5th grade, but ended up loving preschool so much that I didn't want to move grades.
Before I taught in an elementary school, I used to be a taekwondo instructor. I taught a wide range of ages and learned a lot of patience. I don't practice too much anymore though. Nowadays I practice yoga a few times a week. I also like going to the beach, hiking, looking at baby animals in pet stores, and brunch-ing.
Before I knew I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be an artist (before that, I wanted to be a mermaid, but that didn't pan out). I am a fan of ceramics and took three years of it in high school and college. I have taught after school ceramics at Manoa for upper grades. I like using different art mediums besides just crayons and paper. I also enjoy cooking and gardening and hope that my students will love it too. As a preschool teacher I am able to combine all those things with one more thing I love: working with kids! I like to laugh and hope to make learning an enjoyable experience. Oh, and I also really like penguins, if you haven't noticed by the class decor. =)
